Durable Housing Competition
After the natural disasters that hit Australia in 2011 the Insurance Council of Australia sponsored an ideas competition for a house design that was resilient to flood, bushfire, cyclone and hail attack on a hypothetical site with a challenging 1:4 slope.
This is our submission. It includes a number of innovative ideas that respond to all of these issues whilst still managing to look like a conventional home incorporating sustainable climatic design principles and being relatively economical to construct. Our design ideas were favourably received.
